The Plight of a 14 year-old Girl

Thin Myat Moon is a sensational student and enjoys every moment in school. In fact, a few years ago, she received an award for being the best pupil in her class.

She was ecstatic!

As the school year approached in Myanmar this year, we were informed that Thin Myat’s single mother had no other choice but to send her daughter to find a job so she could help support her family.

Just like that, at the age of 14, she was forced to work on construction sites to provide daily food for her family. Moon FamilyShe was working in horrible conditions while earning less than $5 a day.

After hearing about this, we were determined to do something about it!

After many emails back and forth between our leaders on the ground in Myanmar, we were able to complete Thin Myat’s enrollment to start school again! She received all new uniforms, books, supplies, a new back pack, full tuition paid and everything else she needed for her entire year of school!

Thin Myat 2016This is the sixth year that Empower International is able to put Thin Myat through school! Not only that, but we’re also taking care of her family’s daily needs.

At Empower, we are dedicated to helping the “Thin Myat’s” of our world.

Without an education, girls just like her are more likely to fall prey to human trafficking, exploitation and slavery.

We are empowering kids to brake the cycle of poverty and become lights to their communities through their education.

Because of YOU, Thin Myat is enrolled in school again and not working as a slave to take care of her family. Thank you!
